Multiple Chemical Sensitivity
Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) is an illness that affects more than 16% of the population. It is usually brought on by chemical exposure, such as chronic exposure over many years from working or living in a poorly ventilated building with perfumes, chemical cleaning products or copier fumes. MCS is a condition where the body can’t defend itself against toxic chemicals in the environment. Symptoms can include debilitating headaches, fatigue, muscle and joint pain, depression and irritability, anxiety and panic attacks, insomnia, dizziness, nausea, difficulties breathing and swallowing, mental confusion, concentration and memory problems, asthma attacks, seizures, palpitations and heart attacks. No one is born with MCS, but anyone can develop it at any time with no warning. Most sufferers led normal healthy lives before becoming ill.
The Healing Bath™ offers fragrance-free products. Products are scented with 100% pure essential oils. We do not use chemical scents, synthetic fragrances, fragrance oils or masking agents. Our products are 98% – 100% natural. We also do not use any parabens in our products.
Although the term “Unscented” or “Fragrance Free” implies that a product contains no chemical fragrances, often that is not the case. Companies frequently add masking fragrances to cover up the chemical base scent of a product. For people with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, these so-called “Unscented” or “Fragrance Free” products are highly debilitating. Furthermore, the official regulatory definition for the terms “Unscented” or “Fragrance Free” means companies may use a less than 1% fragrance or scent as a masking agent. These are considered trade secrets; there is no government requirement that companies include the chemical breakdown of their synthetic fragrances or masking agents.
The Healing Bath™ stands apart from these commercially prepared products. The Healing Bath™ does not add synthetic or chemical fragrances nor does it add masking agents to any of its products.
Three Things You Should Know about Chemically Scented Products
- One fragrance alone can contain up to 600 petroleum-based chemicals, the ingredients found in gasoline.
- The Environmental Protection Agency discovered that indoor air contains two to five times toxic chemicals than outdoor air, with fragrance chemicals being a major contributor.
- Wearing scented products leads to the absorption of fragrance chemicals through the skin and into the bloodstream.
Detox Methods such as the ones suggested below can help treat Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.
Detox Bathing: This is an ancient remedy that anyone can perform in the comfort of their own home. Your skin is known as the third kidney, and toxins are excreted through sweating. A Dead Sea detox bath will assist your body in eliminating toxins, as well as absorbing the minerals and nutrients that are in the water. Fill your tub with comfortably hot water, add ¼ cup Dead Sea Bath Salts and swish. Soak for 20 minutes. You should start sweating within the first few minutes. If you feel too hot, start adding cold water into the tub until you cool off. Sit in the cool water another 20 minutes. When you get out of the tub, move slowly and carefully, as you get lightheaded or feel weak and drained. Drink plenty of water while detoxing.
Detox Showers: Use The Healing Bath’s Dead Sea Salt Scrub with exfoliation gloves to facilitate detoxification and cleansing of your skin by stimulating your lymphatic system and opening your pores. Begin with the soles of your feet and gradually move upwards while applying light pressure in small circular motions. Avoid your face, breasts or any other sensitive areas. Rinse thoroughly afterwards.
